Building the strategy and visual identity for Outopia, a premium trail running brand launched in China in 2022
Outopia launched in 2022, mid-recession and mid-lockdown, on the belief that trail running could be a kind of salvation for people who felt stuck. We built its strategy and visual identity before it had a market.

The founders' conviction ran deeper than product: nature has the power to heal, nurture and elevate people, and the lessons our ancestors learned in the wild were worth relearning. That gave Outopia its role, a missionary of nature, technology and wilderness in partnership rather than opposition, premium rather than mass, belief-led rather than spec-led.

The identity carried that structurally. We built the mark from the Tao Te Ching: the Tao produces one, one produces two, two produces three, three produces all things. Three tangent circles, echoing cell division, became the logomark. Everything else, the logotype, color system, and extension graphics, was built to extend that same visual language.

Since launch: 500% year-over-year sales growth in year one, Tmall category leadership within two years, five funding rounds including a 2026 Series B, six flagship stores across six cities, and an ISPO award-winning product line.
