Turning old phone cases into tomorrow's canvas through exhibitions and art installations for Earth Day 2024

Earth Day: Journey to Rebirth

[Campaign][Design][Experiential] [2024]

CASETiFY runs Re/CASETiFY, a program that takes back old phone cases, from any brand, and turns them into new cases or art installations. The goal was to build real awareness and excitement for the program around Earth Day 2024, and to stand out in a category already crowded with sustainability initiatives fighting for the same attention.

The strategy started from a simple truth: traditional sustainability messaging doesn't land anymore. People are worn out on plastic waste stories, and city dwellers in particular tend to feel like sustainability is somebody else's problem. But almost everyone has old phone cases sitting in a drawer doing nothing. So instead of repeating the pollution narrative, we shifted the entry point to what those old cases could actually become.

That became Journey to Rebirth, a concept built around one idea: an old phone case isn't waste, it's tomorrow's canvas.

We designed a full visual system to carry that idea across every touchpoint, then brought it into the world through a series of experiences people could actually walk into.

We ran offline exhibitions in China's Aranya and in Seoul, and in Japan, Australia, and the US we partnered with artists to turn recycled phone cases into original art installations.

To carry the idea long after the events ended, we also produced a film that turned the recycling process itself, normally dry and forgettable, into something worth watching.
